Apocalypse Now was released in 1979. The Francis Ford Coppola film stars some of the most famous movie actors such as Marlon Brando, Martin Sheen, and Robert Duvall. This film is a study of war taking human beings to the limit of physical and psychological endurance.
For a lighter movie on the Vietnam War, it is hard to beat Good Morning, Vietnam, starring Robin Williams as an Armed Forces Radio DJ based in Vietnam. The movie released in 1987 features many hilarious improvisation moments by Williams.
